Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Using Facebook to Stay Organized
I know that there are a lot of
people who consider Facebook to be a big
time waster. In fact, there was a time when I'd have thought so myself!
When I joined last year, it was only
because the person who invited me was someone I had recently reconnected with,
and I didn't want to offend her, but it has come to play a big role in my online
life, professionally as well as personally.
With just one log-in, I have been able to:
- Promote my teleseminars and other events
- Learn about opportunities,
events, and activities that interest
me
- Stay connected with my network in ways that would be
unlikely, based only on email and forums, thus forming stronger online
relationships
- Reconnect with former classmates and colleagues, "long
lost" friends and relatives
- Meet new people with common interests
- Post photos, which may be viewed by my friends, family
members, and colleagues, if and when they choose – without having to
worry about filling up their email inboxes
New possibilities arise every week, as they continue to
develop the site and add new applications.
If you've been digging your heels
about signing up, I encourage you to check it out!
