This week, I've decided to do a little surfing and see what interesting products I could come up with.

My favorite product for little kids that I came across was the Snack and Play Travel Tray (pictured on the left.)  We've used fold up tables before in the car (like the one on the right,) but they are tricky to stow and to put up around the kids, especially when you have your car fully packed for a trip.

The Snack and Play Travel Tray is soft and has mesh pockets down the side.  I'm not sure that it will solve my son throwing things on the floor, but it would keep them from rolling away.  You can find them at www.familytravelgear.com.

Another product that caught my attention was the "Best Travel Mug for Kids" advertised by Real Simple.

It has little holes that are adjustable in size all around the top, so by twisting the top, more or less liquid can come out.  Now, I don't know, but it seems to me that this is a recipe for disaster - more holes means more places to spill from!  What happens when this baby is dropped and lands upside down?  Maybe you get a vacuum effect and the liquid stays inside - but I'm not betting on it!  Sorry, but my kids still get to have sippy cups in the car!

Another option when the kids get a little older, is to play audio books.  Books on tape has a good selection on both tape and CD.  I wonder when they're going to branch out to mp3's?

Real Simple recommended creating a Kids Travel kit, including a tape recorder so that kids could make a running commentary of the trip.  They recommended a product by Sony that is small enough to fit kids hands.
