Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Logging Your Mileage
Keeping track of your vehicle mileage for tax purposes or
reimbursement by clients or employers has always been a little bit hit-or-miss.
If you're really organized, you may have a small notebook or a section in your
day planner for recording details of your trips, or maybe you have a program on
your PDA where you record the information, but many people rely on notes
scribbled on their daily calendar or scraps of paper. Even those who record data
diligently run the risk of transposing numbers or forgetting to write down their
odometer reading from time to time and having to guess what it
was.
Once again, the world of technology has come up with a better
option!
Vulocity's Mileage Logger uses GPS technology to determine your location and keep an accurate
log of your miles, drive times, and locations. All you have to do is plug it
into your car, and the information is transmitted via cellular network to the
Mileage Logger website. Once you log in using your user name and password, you
can review your travel log, add comments, categorize your travel files, and
export the data into an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis and/or printing.
Unfortunately, because of the type of technology used, this
product may be too expensive for many drivers. In addition to the initial
investment, there is a monthly service fee.

Now, if they could only combine the power of this device with
a GPS navigation system....
