Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Using Dress Assistant to Organize Your Wardrobe
Dress Assistant is like an electronic version of your closet.
You can enter all the items in your wardrobe, including shoes, underwear, and
accessories. For each item, you indicate whether it's worn during the summer,
winter, or spring/fall (mid season), and enter any other notes that might be
helpful to you. To form outfits, you simply drag and drop the articles of
clothing into another box on your screen screen and give it a name. You can even
keep track of the events where you've worn the outfit if you're worried about a
particular group of friends or associates seeing you in it too
often.
I can see this being a great tool for trying out different
combinations, especially if you're planning a trip and need to see what goes
together and where there may be gaps in your wardrobe.
This software costs under $20.00, and is available for either
Windows or Mac systems. You can download a free trial from http://www.dressassistant.com, which
will accommodate up to 20 wardrobe items. The full version has no restrictions,
and the license allows you to use it on up to five computers, for your whole
family.
The instruction manual is clearly written by someone for whom
English is not their first language, but the software isn't too complicated, so
it's not too difficult to figure out what you need to do.
