Over the years I've worn many hats: student, career woman, daughter, wife, mother, and graduate student. Most of those hats have been worn simultaneously with some days better than others. While I've been on earth quite awhile now, I still feel I'm a work in progress, learning as I go, with many new roads ahead.
As a member of the Sandwich Generation, I found myself face to face with The Stuff of Life. This led me to training and certification for interior redesign, rearrangement, and staging. Life really is a journey, so come along with me as we explore ways to get in balance and keep it there, when you feel yourself oozing out of the Oreo cookie.

TOOOOO MUCH TO DO ON YOUR TO DO LIST?
Too much to do on your list this time of year? Has that
feeling of overwhelm and panic crept into your life? Do you catch yourself
coming and going but not knowing where you've been?
Be grateful in realizing you are not alone. The holidays
sneak up on us each year no matter how often we promise ourselves we'll be
ready this time.
It's not too late to look over your list and re-evaluate
what's on there that could possibly come off. If it helps you some, keep in
mind your To Do List is nothing compared to President-elect Obama's list. In
the November 21, 2008
issue of the magazine The Week, the
cover had Obama's To Do list on it with a drawing of Obama working off some of
the items.
His list looked like this:
THINGS TO DO
MAKE
HISTORY------...

Organizing for a Cause
By the time this is posted on Friday morning I will have
begun my fourth 3-day/60 mile walk for breast cancer. I, along with 4700
walkers will leave Del Mar Fairgrounds after the Opening Ceremony kicking off
the San Diego Susan G. Komen 3 day. This will be the last Komen Walk of 2008.
I'm honored to be able to do these walks, having been breast
cancer free for 14 years now. Not everyone is as lucky as I. That's why I walk.
Because I can. ...

MAKING This Holiday Season the Best!
It's hard to believe that we are less than seven days away
from Thanksgiving Week. It seems like 2008 has just flown by and now it's time
to start wrapping it up.
Speaking of wrapping, one cannot conjure the end of the year
without thinking of holiday gift giving. This has been an extremely, tough year
for many, many folks and we are no way out of the woods yet on all the
financial mayhem that has landed in many people's back yards. Not only back
yards, but front yards as well, and all through their homes and lives. ...

AMERICA RECYCLES DAY – NOVEMBER 15
Talk about the Stuff of Life!! We've all got too much of it
and here comes an opportunity to release some of that to the universe.
AMERICA
RECYCLES DAY – November 15!!!
Since the first America Recycles Day in 1997, Americans have
become better informed about the importance of recycling and buying products
made from recycled materials. However, we still have a long way to go.
Each day the average American disposes 5-7 pounds of
garbage, of which we are recycling about a third of it. We can all strive to do
better. ...

R.E.D. Continues to Hunt in October
Last year I wrote a blog called "Lost in Paradise
or How R.E.D. Hunts in October". In that blog I expressed my love affair with
bargains and consignment stores. Well, I can't let another October go by
without renewing my vows to consignment stores.
I love a good deal, just like Howie Mandel. Many of us do and
those that didn't before this economic meltdown are now asking for directions
to their local Goodwill Store. So if the financial state of our economy has got
you flummoxed, frustrated and full of fear, it's important to know where the
bargains exist. ...

IT GETS MESSY IN THE MIDDLE
Are you one of those who postpone starting a project because
you are waiting for a 3-4 day (or week) in your life where your calendar is
clear to start something big?
Many of us are like that. Call it perfectionism-waiting
until the time is perfect or call it procrastination-if I wait long enough
something more fun, interesting or crisis-laden will come along.
I'm here to tell you we never get those GIANT blocks
of time just sitting there on our calendar saying absolutely nothing coming up
here in the next (4 x 24) 96 hours-not a thing. As the late Gilda Radner said
in her autobiographical story, There's Always Something. ...

DEADLINES CONTINUE TO BE DELICIOUS!!!
I've spoken of deadlines before in previous blogs but I just
have to share with you an experience of last week that really brings this point
home.
I have an organizing client who I have been working with for
several months. This busy mom has started her own business and has a vision of
how she would like it to be. This is a new experience for her and one that has
so many components to it that she felt the need to contact a professional in
the organizing field to get her on track and help her to stay on track as well. ...

"I Should Have Started Much Earlier"
Have you ever had those conversations with yourself when you
are in that negative self-talk discussion we all hate?
I'm having one of those today. You see I am departing for
the airport momentarily for my high school reunion in the suburbs of Chicago.
I've known about this event for many months. I've had time to plan, to
reminisce, to lose 20 pounds, to learn once and for all how to put on make-up.
I guess you could say "I've had all the time in the world", but guess what? ...

What was your TAKE-AWAY from the Olympics?
The Summer Olympics are over and we are straddling between
the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention.
So let's take a breather and reflect back on the Olympics.
What moved you? What were your "aha" moments? How did the entire experience
make you feel? Were you like me trying to get a copy of Michael Phelps' daily
diet of 4000 calories but unsure how you were going to burn most of them off
like he does? ...

There's Still Time to PACK & PLAY
I know the calendar shows summer is waning and school bells
are ringing everywhere, but that doesn't mean you couldn't fit in a short trip
while the weather is still grand. (Labor Day Weekend is a week away!) Now I
recognize this depends entirely on the rest of your household and how many
players are still living there. But just in case you are in charge of your
universe, here are a couple of thoughts on the topic. ...
