Most people not only want to preserve their memories -- they want to display them in a unique and attractive way, as well. The phenomenon called SCRAPBOOKING has become so popular that entire businesses have sprung up providing supplies. You can even take CLASSES on how to put together a scrapbook -- and join support groups that will give you creative ideas for using stickers, labels, stamps, and other EMBELLISHMENTS. While you could spend your life (and some people do) perfecting your art, we're going to spend some time this month focusing on some of the basics of compiling a well-organized scrapbook.

Some Practical Organizing Tips...

Sort your pictures and keepsakes into CHRONOLOGICAL stacks. It's okay if you can't remember the exact date -- just aim for the right decade! Make a note of the date on the back with a soft acid-free grease pencil (no pens -- they damage your photos).

Make sure you only use acid free supplies -- designed specifically to protect your pictures. And never use MAGNETIC photo album pages. Over time, they will cause your pictures to degrade -- and the pages often stick, causing your pictures to tear.

Think in terms of THEMES for each page -- animals for a trip to the zoo, balloons for a birthday, etc. Get your materials together before you start -- so you don't get halfway through a page and realizing that you don't have everything you need!
