Back-to-school -- it's either a blessing or a pain in the neck, depending on how you look at it. Your kids are out of the house, you get some free TIME, and you can finally tackle some personal projects you've been putting off. But you also have to contend with SHOPPING for supplies and school clothes, chauffeuring to and from extracurricular activities, the early-morning madness as you get everyone out of the house on time, and getting your kids back into the swing of doing HOMEWORK and sticking to a regular schedule. This month, we're offering a few suggestions for making the transition out of summer and back to school a little easier.

Some Practical Organizing Tips...

Set a schedule for homework and chores from the start -- and regular ROUTINES for bedtime and getting ready in the morning. It's will be challenging at first -- but not as challenging as things will be if you don't establish some boundaries now.

COLOR-CODE your child's supplies for each class -- with book covers, folders, and other items for a class all in the same color. Use two-pocket folder for each class -- one side for unfinished assignments and the other side for completed homework.

We sometimes overload our kids' schedules by offering them too many opportunities. Teach good time management skills by LIMITING the number of activities they participate in at once. You'll also save yourself a lot of stress!
