What are These Papers on My Desk?!?
When I work with a client in his or her office, one of the main steps is to sort and categorize papers. We start with the pile on their desktop (get visual results quicker), and through my experience ALL papers fall into one of four categories. Paper is a(n):
- Action – Place in immediately accessible file folder & add to planner/to-do list
- Reference – Place in easily accessible file folder
- Memory – Place in archive file folder
- Trash – Throw away, shred or recycle
