The little trips - fast
How much effort is it to go out quickly with the kids? Can you go out on a spur of the moment trip to the park, or out to the grocery store for a treat or to top up on whatever has been the favorite food this week.
Here are some tips for quick get aways.
Baby supplies:
Keep a stash of diaper changing supplies in the car - changing mat, diapers, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, diaper cream. Use the back of the seat pockets, or have a small diaper bag that you keep under a seat. A change of clothes can be kept with the diaper change material in the car, or in a packed diaper bag.
Keep a small tin or individual servings of formula in the car for emergencies. It's handy to keep a bottle and some water in the car too.
You can also keep one or two toys in the car.
Toddlers and pre-schoolers:
Ziploc bag a change of clothes if you need to.
Keep snacks together in one section of your kitchen and in one section of your fridge. Keep ziploc bags or plastic containers nearby. That makes it easier to grab and go. You can get really keen and make up snack packs ahead of time so you just need to grab a bag and go.
Preschoolers can sometimes benefit from some sort of car entertainment (read: be bribed to get into the car and belted up more quickly.) My daughter loves coloring books and we have a cool little contraption with changable crayon colors. A small pencil case with a few coloring pencils and a blank notebook is also a quick-to-grab alternative.
Older children:
Have them bring what they want and need!
If you don't have back of the seat pockets, or need a little extra storage space, then try either of the following automobile organizers - an organizer that sits either on the seat, on the floor, or in the trunk Carganizer Auto Organizer - or an over the seat organizer - Auto Entertainment Organizer.
What are your best tips for getting out the door fast?
