7 Nifty Web Sites on Organizing Paper
Just for fun, this morning I googled "paper organizing" and "blog + paper organizing." Then I threw into the mix a couple of web sites I already like for having good content about this paper wave we're surfing. The result is a list of seven web sites you may not have seen with useful insights on paper management.
Record Retention Guidelines
Although it's always good to check with your tax advisor if you're uncertain, this list provides a good place to start when you're asking the question "Is it safe to throw this paper away?"
Getting Things Done
I've spoken before of my admiration for David Allen's masterful system for increasing personal productivity in our complex age. A good chunk of his system addresses the effective management of incoming paper. This section of David's web site offers resources for individuals at work and home. David and his team of coaches are on the cutting edge of innovative paper –and time—management techniques.
You probably know Pendaflex as the maker of hanging file folders and other paper management products. Visit The Pendaflex Advisor and follow the links for "All about the Organized Office" and "Organizing Your Home" for a host of paper management tips.
Throw away electronics manuals?
This useful site provides links to manuals for most electronic products, computer and otherwise, in use in homes today. I personally intend to look up each electronic item I own by model number, and will toss its manual if Retrevo has it. These manuals currently occupy close to a foot of space in my filing system.
Good blogs about paper
Although it's my goal to provide you with practical pointers on all things paper, I don't profess to have all the answers! These two blogs do a nice job, and I visit them myself.
Forum on organizing paper
Of course, Online Organizing's forum on paper organizing – and all kinds of organizing – is the best
, but here's another good one. Its owner, Maria Gracia, is a contributor to Online Organizing.
