BOUNDARY AND THE BASEMENT
My office is my office! How many times have I said that and it really becomes a playroom for my kids? Why is that? Yesterday I went downstairs to my office to work and my kids had taken all the pillows off the window seat including the big cushion that is for sitting on and stacked them into "a mountain" on the sofa. Plus there were beads thrown all over the floor. Need less to say I was not happy at all. Why is this the playroom? We have a perfectly great one in our basement. Which is nicely remodeled so there are no spider webs and exposed duct systems. So, what is the deal? After much stewing and yes a little yelling I realized my problem. Boundaries and zones. My office has a computer in it for the kids to use. That is the purpose of the room. There are no forts, mountains, Barbie villages only quiet activities. The basement however is for just that, forts, mountains and Barbie world. I don't have to be an ogre about it all but my kids can form to those simple rules. Setting the boundaries of my home makes life and cleans up a lot easer for the whole family. The big bonus is that I am happy and we all know the saying (say it with me) "If Moms not happy, no one is happy"
