Blog: Home Organizing, Week By Week
Sometimes when our home is disheveled and we can't seem to know where to begin. It travels from our bedroom to the kitchen to the family room to the garage and the energy it takes to wrap our brain around it can to be much to handle. I to have been there and am there sometimes still. It really is a catch twenty-two. One if we are not centered ourselves our surroundings cannot be centered. Two if our surroundings are not centered and organized neither is our psyche and mind. Can you relate? I am an organized person but when things are crazy and the future is unknown things tend to go awry. When my home is in an uproar my mind has a hard time focusing. When my mind is bouncing inside like a super ball in a small space I become misdirected and frustrated. Instead of dosing myself or whole family with Adderall I look deep inside myself and try to find what the cause of all the commotion is. With out simplifying inside my own brain I cannot deal with anything outside of it. Clarity reveals itself to individuals in many different ways. What gives you clarity? I recently went on a trip to Chicago to visit my parents, go to a meeting and visit a couple friends. The pure moments I found driving in my car by myself were uncanny. How relaxing for me.. No kids, no husband, and even no friends, just me and the road. How wonderful. I arrived home at the end of the weekend renewed. Just what the doctor ordered. What do you need to find Clarity? Is it an afternoon in a coffee shop reading? Is it a day shopping? Is it a hard-core workout at the gym? What ever it is, you need it. Then and only then are you ready to tackle the larger tasks at hand. One of my favorite lines is in Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts. Her friend tells her as they part ways "You take care of you". How true is that? We have to be centered to deal and take care of all the demands our family, friends, boss and coworkers ask of us. Can you do that? I just did and it did wonders for my psyche. I feel like I can take on the challenges that come my way with a better attitude and clarity. I challenge you to do the same. Let me know how it feels. I guarantee you will be able to take on the challenges you need to.
