Tips for a Home-Based Office: Activities & Client Status
Organize Your Activities
-
For artists, designers, architects, etc., separate the creative activity (drawing, crafting) from the work activity (filing, invoicing, scheduling)
Organize Your Client Information
-
Recommend each client be a separate folder, and it may be necessary to create subcategories of folders relating to contracts, invoices, work products, background information
-
If you need to track the status of documents related to multiple grants, reimbursements, projects, clients, etc., you can:
-
Create a file folder for each status (e.g., Review Order, In-Process, Invoice) of document, and when the status of a document changes move it to the next folder
-
Alternatively, designate a step sorter or small file box for each status of a client/project file, and when the status changes, move the file folder from one step sorter to the next
