The Cubicle – More Stuff Than Storage Space

One of the most common causes of office disorganization is "more stuff than storage space." Some office space is truly limited, such as a cubicle environment.

How to Survive in the Cubicle?

Use the area under your desk for a plastic tub for personal items (e.g., shoes)

Go vertical - add shelves / trays to cubicle walls, using workflow rails and slatboards

Use your desktop for storage, but use containers to keep your desk looking neat

Take older work home and store in a file box

Check your company's retention guidelines and send must-save papers to central filing

On a project, review the project's workpaper guidelines to determine what to keep

Use a file box or file tub under your desk, or a self-standing file frame on your desk, to meet your filing needs

Use in/out mail boxes or hanging wall pockets for sorting in-coming and out-going mail, memos, etc., especially if you have several bosses

If you cannot get your company to pay for the supplies, it is worth the investment for you to purchase these items on your own.
