Towels to Rags Organizing! The Organizing Diet-Week 14
Back from the west coast…back to old routines. There is something very comforting with the familiarity of routine. I think we don't appreciate what we have in our day to day lives sometimes, until we're away from it.
Well, as we begin to wrap up our Organization Diet journey, I hope that even if you only jumped on board with us these last couple of weeks that you already feel lighter and more streamlined in your home space…and your body! Remember, as you clear the space around you, you are clearing your mind…a necessary ingredient for losing weight!
This week's pit-stop project card will be: THE LINEN CLOSET. That's right, open it up this week and snap a 'before' picture (this is fun, trust me!), then… take everything out…all table linens, towels, bed sheets, comforters, and/or whatever else you keep in there. Carefully re-organize the shelves, such as devoting one shelf per bedroom. Re-fold the bed sheets (making sure the folding end is facing out for easy retrieval) and separate table linens into an everyday linens stack and a holiday/special occasion stack. If you keep any bulky items in the linen closet, such as pillows or comforters, try using a space bag, whereby you can tuck them in and suck out the air so that it's pancake thin, taking up less space. Use this opportunity to remove any old bed sheets or towels you really don't want to be using anymore. Once the closet is in order…take another photo…you will be pleasantly surprised when you see the difference between the before and after photo! This should serve as inspiration to keep going! Move onto another closet, maybe? It's empowering!
This week's clutter critter to exterminate from your home, in keeping with the linen closet theme, will be OLD TOWELS! Go through every bathroom, closet and the kitchen and really examine the stacks of towels that are taking up precious space. Which ones are old, worn out and ratty looking? Time to make those into rags, perhaps? Also, it might now be time to discard the oldest towels you are currently using as rags. Who knows, your newly organized bathroom, linen closet and kitchen may even inspire you to purchase a brand new set of towels! (but if you do, remember the 'one in, one out' rule!)
Keep munching on your fruits and veggies, and now that warmer weather is starting to emerge, getting those 8 glasses of water in daily should be even easier! And don't forget to keep me posted!
