Leaving the kids behind

I know, I know, this blog is supposed to be about traveling WITH kids, but when this gets posted, I will be in Reno at the National Association of Professional Organizers' annual conference - without my kids!

My husband is back home, taking the kids to daycare and pre-school, coping by himself while I'm here.  I did do a few things to make it easier for him while I'm away.

We talked with my daughter about me going away.  My husband has already taken a few trips in her recent memory, so she understood that I was going to a conference and that she wouldn't see me for a few days.

And I took care of the details:

The kids clothes are all clean.
The kids are in extended care while I'm here.  My daughter who's 4 1/2 now is SOOO excited to be spending three days in a row "staying for snack" in the afternoon at her pre-school.
The pantry is stocked for the rest of the week.
The meals are all planned and I cooked extra amounts of some favorite recipes last week and freezed the extra for meals this week. My husband has all the phone numbers he might need - daycare, pre-school, the doctor, the dentist, the health insurance numbers, and he has the secret squirrel driving directions to avoid the traffic to daycare and pre-school.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly!

And I'll enjoy my trip without the kids!  ;-)
