Using Your Digital Camera to Organize Your Move
As an amateur photographer, I think the digital camera is one of the greatest inventions of our time. Gone are the days when we had to limit our picture-taking so we wouldn't run out of film or have to worry about expensive processing fees! And isn't it great to be able to preview the pictures you've taken, so you can try again if they don't turn out as you imagined? But your digital camera is good for more than just beautiful snapshots!
While planning an upcoming move, my sister and I used graph paper to figure out the best placement of furniture in her new home (she didn't care for the online floorplanner I'd recommended.) Once we had come up with a good arrangement, instead of sketching the plan in a notebook, we simply took photos! It took a lot less time and effort, and the pictures are clear enough to use as a guide. Click here to see a sample living room layout.
You could do the same thing if you came up with a tentative arrangement but still wanted to play around with other options.
Here's another way you can make use of your camera when moving - If you have furniture that needs to be taken apart before you move it, take pictures of the pieces as you're taking it apart; you can then refer to those photos when it's time to reassemble it in your new home.
