Time Down the Drain
I have a confession to make.
Those of you who rely on me to model the life of a very organized entrepreneur will be horrified at how much time I wasted last week. Time slipped away and I did nothing to regain control. My well-designed plans and priorities were just scribbles on my calendar to be ignored.
Was I sick? Dealing with a family tragedy? Experiencing total burn-out? No.
This was the week I stumbled into Facebook.
It started out harmlessly enough. First, I set up a page just to find out what it is that has everybody talking about this website. Then, I searched for the names of a couple of high school and college acquaintances. We made "friends". Then, up popped a list of other people I might know. Wow. There they were – long lost classmates, neighborhood moms, teenage crushes, current clients, and Professional Organizers from all over the globe. Every new "friend" brought with them a list of people I'd like to know and another hour down the drain.
This is addictive. If this goes on another week, I may need my Facebook "high" more than I need that first Diet Coke at 5:30 each morning.
Not to be melodramatic, but I fear I have found a time-waster so enticing that it threatens the entire foundation of my super-organized life.
In order to preserve my career and the very structure of my life, I am committing to closing my Internet connection for one hour in the morning and two hours each afternoon next week to preserve my sanity and productivity.
Won't you join me?

What I'm Reading . . .
- "Raising Financially Fit Kids", Joline Godfrey
Common sense ideas and insight into raising kids who are wll-prepared to manage their own finances as young adults.
- "The Success Principles: How To Get From Where You Are to Where You Want To Be" by Jack Canfield
This book really got me excited about pursuing my goals and growing my business. There is a heavier emphasis on materialism than what I am comfortable with, but overall this is an inspiring book.
- "The Organized Executive", by Stephanie Winston
- "No B.S. Time Management for Enterpreneurs" by Dan Kennedy
