The Other Room of the Office - The Conference Room
A Professional Organizer's life is never dull. This past week I assisted a senior moving into a Sunrise community (all the furniture fit), helped a hospital administrator more efficiently distribute actions to her staff, and supported a couple with decluttering and donations (my mini-van was full). I hope your week was an interesting as mine!
One topic I have never discussed in my blog is the Conference Room. Here are some guidelines and items to consider:
-
Conference tables should have 24 inches width of space at the table for each person
-
36 inches is needed between the edge of the table and the wall to allow for passage
-
The edge of an area rug under the table should be 36 inches from the table
-
If you have a chandelier, it needs to be 2 ½ feet above the table
-
If you're a small business consider multiple small tables that can be place together to form a large conference table and then segmented apart for individual training tables when needed
-
If your conference room shares a large space with workplace desks, consider adding a mobile partition or whiteboard on wheels for noise reduction
-
Based your business needs you may want a mesh fabric bulletin board for story-boarding or a whiteboard for brainstorming
- Consider using a whiteboard sheet with repositionable adhesive on the back (a mobile solution)
