Social Networking
Do you ever feel like you have started something you are not sure how to control, yet you enjoy it so you keep going?
SOCIAL NETWORKING - HELPFUL OR HARMFUL?
That is how I feel about social networking. It's addictive, exciting and yet so time consuming. I didn't even know what was happening to me until it was too late... 9 groups later, here I am consumed by social networking.
What I find ironic about it all is that overall, it's entertaining and a great tool, but man, who has the time to manage it?
As it stands today, I belong to Facebook, Yahoo, Babble, Organized Life By Design, Biznik, Plaxo, Linkedin, Online Organizing and PreSchoolFinders just to name a few. Here are some of the reasons why I have joined:
1. Some of these are filled with people I love to network with that are in the same business and/or stage in life as I am.
2. It's an easy way to promote my own business and what I am doing.
3. I can connect with people that I would not normally have access to due to geography.
All very good reasons, but it doesn't take away form my initial statement about time. I usually try to get on to each one at least once a week, but no more. Any more than that and I am overwhelmed.
Do you belong to a social network? How do you process the vast amount of information and/or updates needed to stay in the loop?
