Filing Supplies – Thumbs-Up/Thumbs-Down
Here are some of my favorite and not-so favorite filing supplies.
Thumbs-Up
When establishing a new file system, I recommend you set-up a temporary file system before running out to the store and spending $200+ on a file cabinet. The best temporary file storage box is the Bankers Box Hang'N'Stor. Why? It comes with plastic channels to hold hanging files – very few inexpensive storage boxes have this feature. When you're done using the box, you can fold it flat and easily store it, which you cannot do with a plastic file tote/tub.
Thumbs- Down
Pendaflex Ready-Tab Reinforced File Folders – You select which of the tab settings that you want: left, middle, or right, and then you fold down the tabs you don't want. The problem is the crease in the tab that you choose, makes it more difficult for labels to stick to the folders. Also, the tabs are much shorter than other folders, so the standard 1/3 cut file folder labels (~1/2 inch x 3 ½ inches) do not fit on the tabs.
Thumbs-Up
Pendaflex Reinforced File Folders – The tabs are reinforced or 2-ply which provides greater strength and durability. They also come in a variety of color options. All permanent file folders should have reinforced tabs.
