Voice of Fate or Destiny?

In Robert OHotto's book,  "Transforming Fate into Destiny: A New Dialogue with Your Soul" he discusses how essentially human it is to reach for the familiar, the recognizable, the safe.

But the soul is here for experience, not security.  A life without risk, loss, or pain is never actualized.  The somber voice of the ego speaks of Fate - the still small voice of the soul encourages Destiny.  The former speaks through your fears, your past, your wounds.  The latter communicates to you through your intuition, your dreams and Divine intervention.  Both will continually compete to guide the choices you make throughout your life.
Will you choose based on your fear or your highest potential?  Decisions of Fate usually are made to keep worries at bay or live in the past instead of letting your present expand with possibilty.  Decisions of Destiny lead to the realization of your highest potential.  They demand that you trust, let go of the past, be present and manifest the best - without apology.
Deciding which impulse you will allow to shape your life is not easy, but it is essential.  If you heed the voice of Destiny you must be prepared to risk and sacrifice for the unknown.  Some experiences will be incredibly joyful, others will be painful.   But as Robert Frost sagely observed in his poem:  "I will be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence. I chose the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."
