When Less Means More
Keep your groove going - it is now clear how quickly your body deteriorates when you stop exercising, according to a study in the Journal of American Medical Association.
Subjects who went from workout sprout to couch potato had much higher clucose and fat levels in their bloodstreams (which can set the stage for adult onset diabetes and heart disease - especially in women) after only 2 WEEKS! Their abdominal fat had increased by an average of 7%.
These changes may be tied to a sudden stall in calorie burn, which has been linked to the loss of muscle mass (muscle burns calories even while at rest).
Weight training and anaerobic training (interval or hill training) can combat muscle loss which decreases dramatically with age.
