There are a number of products available that allow you to scan your receipts and business cards into electronic format, but you are still left wondering how to store your original paperwork. I've just learned about a unique service called Shoeboxedthat takes things one step further.

With Shoeboxed, you actually MAIL your receipts and business cards to the company, who then scan them and upload the files to your secure online account. Receipts are automatically placed into 15 common tax categories, and are sortable by store, date, and total. In addition to working with your receipts online, you may download them into Excel or Quicken or into CSV or PDF format. Contact data from scanned business cards can easily be imported into various platforms, including Outlook, Plaxo, Salesforce, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and LinkedIn.

It's an interesting concept, but I know people who won't even pay their bills online, so I'm sure they wouldn't be comfortable using this type of service. After all, you're entrusting the company to secure not only your information online, but your original documents. However, these issues are discussed in detail on their website, and they can be contacted by telephone, so if you think this service would benefit you, why not give them a call?
