Is Your Dining Room Table Your Home Office?
Is your dining room table your home office? If so, you may be feeling an elevated level of stress at this time due to holiday company. Perhaps you know, and are dreading, that in a day or two you will have to take all your work off the table, put it in boxes, and shove it into an already over-stuffed closet. Perhaps you already had to do this over the past few days…and it was painful. Vow to make changes so you won't feel like this again.
Having your dining room table function as your home office is not in itself a bad thing. The table has a wide flat surface, you probably get lots of sunlight, it's a fairly warm room, and it makes you feel comfortable. The KEY is that when it is time to eat, you need dedicated storage near the table for all office-related items. You need to be able to quickly clear off the table and put all the items away. Consider using a cabinet, breakfront, or cupboard for storage. You'll need room for office supplies and a file box or two.
