TIME FLIES!
If you find yourself sighing and thinking, "Where has all the time gone!" keep reading for some helpful hints. Begin recouping time by making a daily schedule.
There's no doubt about it – you can get more work done with a daily To-Do list. It helps you to focus your time and energy thus allowing you to map your day by seeing the larger picture. For projects you want to complete in January and for the larger things you would like to have done by the year's end, make another list. Look over this list often so you will aim your daily activities toward these goals.
You'll also need to keep a month-at-a-glance appointment book and long-range planning calendar to avoid over scheduling and to keep from forgetting engagements. Plan ahead to practice pian for a ½ hr. as well as time for the laundry, the car oil change, or even cleaning the house. You'll get things done that need doing and you're even more likely to do something enjoyable when it's written down.
Ignore the idea of "spring cleaning!" Yes, you read that correctly – ignore spring cleaning. Things that need doing now tend to be procrastinated on because you're waiting for this large block of time that sometimes doesn't even happen or gets pushed back way too long.
The key is to keep up with your routine work and incorporate major tasks into your slow days. Don't keep putting things off. Do things as soon as you notice them. For example, if the bathroom sink needs scrubbing, just take a few minutes right after you brush your teeth to do it, rather than waiting until tomorrow when you plan to clean the entire bathroom. It helps to keep rags and cleanser under each sink in the house.
Finally, when you add something to your closet, make it a habit to discard something at the same time. Some call this the "One-In-One-Out-Rule" and this applies to every room in the house. (By the way, some of you need to jump start this process with the "One-In-15-Out-Rule!"
Start doing these types of things and you won't have as many projects hanging over your head making you feel like time is flying away from you.
