MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TIME
Is your lunch hour a pleasure? It should be! Aside from the obvious that lunch is for eating, lunch is a mid-day break to refresh you for the afternoon's work. It doesn't matter if you spend it at home or at a paying job, treat yourself to at least 15 minutes of enjoyment. For example, read, shop, sit in the sun, call a friend on the phone, browse through a magazine, even relax and put your feet up!
If you work outside your home, consider stretching your lunch hour by bringing your lunch, thus eliminating the time it takes to eat out at a restaurant. When it comes to work, try working an occasional evening. When you find you've had an unproductive day or a string of them catch up working a few extra hours in one evening. Wait until the kids are in bed so you're assured of uninterrupted time. Find a comfortable spot and tackle whatever project needs a little "catch up." The next morning you'll feel brighter and more carefree without a backlog of work hanging over you.
A final thought for today is based on the "use it or lose it" concept of remembering things. You'll save lots of time if you aren't forever looking for lost things like your checkbook, bankbook, keys, or car title. The best tip is to have a place for these types of things and then always put them immediately in their place with you're not using them. If soon you'll need an important bill, recipe, coupon, or address, tack or sticky note it to the kitchen wall if there's no other way to remember it. If the car needs gas or oil, write yourself a note and leave it on the driver's seat or stick it on the steering wheel. Use memory tricks and make lists for as the old Chinese proverb says, "Short pencil better than long memory." Write it down!
