Storage: Catalogs & Magazines
Look around your office. Do you see piles of magazines and catalogs on your desk or on your floor? Do you have a job where you need to reference these items? Let's get them stored and organized!
Start with catalogs. If you have a business where you shop for clients (e.g., interior design), you'll need access to catalogs. First, sort your catalogs and alphabetize them. Then purge and only keep the most recent edition of each catalog. Trust me…the same merchandise is in each catalog just using different pictures or different page layouts. Next, I recommend your purchase one to two magazine files. Each magazine file can usually hold up to 25 catalogs. Store your catalogs alphabetically; place A-L in one magazine file and M-Z in the 2nd file.
Magazines are slightly different because there is unique information in each issue. However, after time the information can be outdated and you'd be better-off performing your research via the internet. If it is a subscription that you reference in your business, it is fine to keep 3 to 6 months of a magazine. Use one magazine file to hold each subscription. On a regular schedule, add new issues to your magazine file and toss the old. Don't forget to label the spine of each magazine file.
