Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Using Technology to Track Your Weight Loss Program
If one of your new year's resolutions was to lose weight, you're in good company – this is one of the most popular resolutions every year. Like so many other areas of life, you can use technology to help you track your progress. On SparkPeople, you'll find a number of tools to help you learn to live a healthier lifestyle, including:
Nutrition Tracker – Enter what you eat, and it will calculate your calories, carbs, fat, protein, and other nutrients, and compare this to your daily and weekly goals.
Meal Planner – Create meals, view the nutritional values, and generate a shopping list.
Weigh-In – Keep track of your weight and measurements.
Fitness Tracker – Set goals and keep track of your activities.
Other Goals – You can also create any other type of goals that you may wish to track.
It can be bothersome to have to log into the site each time you want to record an activity, but since it allows you to easily generate customizable reports to help you monitor your progress, it can be a lot more helpful than simply writing things down in a journal.
In addition, SparkPeople offers lots of recipes as well as videos and articles on diet and fitness. It also has a social networking component, where you can interact with other site members through blogs, message boards, special interest groups, and private messaging. The downside of this is that it can be quite overwhelming to learn to navigate the site with its wealth of features and information.
