Let Go And Take A Break From It All!
It's time for a break. Breathe. Sit back. Roll your shoulders back. Breathe. Relax and let all the worry go. Put your hand on your heart right now, close your eyes and connect with the center of your essence. The beating of your heart symbolizes the beat of you, your attitudes, beliefs, ideas, and dreams. It's your rhythm. There is a part of you that is pure and untouched by the physical world. Some call it the Divine Self, Spirit, Soul, Intuition, Source, Universe, or God. Whatever you choose to call it, it means the same thing. It's who you truly are, your true essence, joy.
I'm reminding all of you today to STOP! Take a moment to see the good in yourself and the world. Let go of all the negativity that surrounds you these days for just a moment. Remember what's really important. It is so easy to be drawn in by the terrible news of the economy, job losses, and closings. It is an unsettling time, but your worry will not make it go away. It will make it worse!
It's important to be realistic. An optimist is a realist. They see the reality and realize that situations can be altered with a shift in perception. There are some actions we can take to shift our perception. Here are ten of them.
- Acknowledge, express, and release your feelings. There are no negative emotions. There may be unwelcomed feelings, but all feelings lead us to a greater understanding of who we are.
- Talk to someone you trust. Find a person who can be completely objective with you and can help you clearly see what you may be doing to block the expression of your true self.
- Practice self-acceptance. Never put yourself down for anything. We all make mistakes, do things that we wished we hadn't, and have our inadequacies. Acknowledge these and move on with understanding.
- Focus on your strengths. Connect with that part of you that can ride the waves. Make a list of all your strengths and refer to them daily.
- Get quiet and listen to your heart. It knows. You will receive the answers if you create the space to hear the wisdom.
- Practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift to ourselves. It comes from a place of self-love. It's is not about condoning bad behavior, but loving ourselves enough to let go of the heaviness of resentments. It's a choice.
- Stop trying to control the situation. It's natural for all of us to want a sense of control over our world, but it is in the letting go that we gain true control. When we change ourselves, our perspectives, and attitudes, it leads to a greater sense of freedom which brings happiness. And that's what we want when we are trying to control a situation.
- Be open to receiving the good that may be in the crisis, or chaos, or unexpected moment. Nothing is as it appears if you look closely enough.
- Remember what's important. You've heard it said before—"Is it really going to matter five years from now?"
- Choose love, not fear. Happiness is about loving, faith, and trusting.
Give yourself a breather break several times throughout the day. Focus on the very thing you CAN control—you! Then just watch as the world begins to shift right in front of you!
Love To You,
Maggie
