ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT TIME?
When you're in a depressed mood, everything can seem downright depressing! Don't lie awake at night with a whirlpool of thoughts spinning in your head like: "Was I too ornery with the kids today?" "Was there one more important business call I was supposed to make?" Instead, focus on pleasant thoughts about the wonderful day you and the kids had at the zoo or the really nice receptionist you encountered during on of your business calls or shopping trips today. Plan ahead with these types of special thoughts. Ponder that raise you got at work or the fun your family had camping last weekend. The Bible tells us, "Whatever in honorable, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, think about these things."
Take time for attitude adjustments. Do you remember the last time you were feeling kind of down until someone said, "Let's go out" and your spirits perked right up? You had an instant attitude adjustment and your mood brightened on the spot!
So, how are you feeling right now? Are you tense because you're under the gun to finish a huge project by the end of the week? Perhaps an exciting weekend is coming up, so relax your mind and refocus your attitude to the fun you'll have vs. the workload weighing you down. With a little practice you can go from anxiety to relief when those waves of worry start to roll over you.
The world around you will begin to look quite differently when you accentuate the positive. Make it a habit to keep in mind the "you" that you want to be. Recall the compliments you've been given...remember that is you!
It's been discovered that when you think positively, you'll feel positive, and you'll act positively!
Note: If you're having trouble sleeping because of thoughts and to-do's whirling around in your head be sure to check out my "Notes in the Night...Don't lose Thoughts or Sleep!" I've used this for years and stopped that whirlwind in its tracks with this simple, logical, and practical tool on my nightstand. It also makes a great gift item for your sleepless friends!
