Blog: Use Your Space & Conquer Office Workflow
Role Reversal in the U.S.
This week Time magazine predicts that by the end of 2009, for the first time in U.S. history, women will outnumber men in the workforce. …wow! This is a result of the number of men who have been hit hard by layoffs.
So if the dynamics in your household have changed or are about to change, it is time to get your home office in order. Systems need to be set-up and processes need to be in place to transition tasks and make sure things are running smoothly. If you're on a budget, do-it-yourself (DIY) organizing is the answer.
In the Washington DC area, I teach the following class: Get Organized.
In the course Get Organized learn a method from Professional Organizer Heather Cocozza that can be used to organize any room of your home! For your individual class project, select one room to organize and be guided through each step. Design your space based on room activities and storage. Discover how to sort and purge, assign "homes" for items, use containers, and label. Learn tips on how to stop mail from taking over your space. Conquer clutter and regain control!
Check the local community college and adult education courses in your area for a local DIY organizing class. Classes are typically much cheaper than having a Professional Organizer come to your home, because you're learning in a group setting.
On a personal note…I had the wonderful opportunity to have dinner this weekend with the most highly respected Professional Organizer in the U.S., Julie Morgenstern. It's every Organizer's dream…what a privilege!
