CREATING A CLEANING SCHEDULE
How often do you clean the house? Do you clean when you know company is coming and then you run around like a chicken without its head, hoping the house will be in shape before they arrive? Do you clean the entire house at one time and then pass out from exhaustion? There's a better way. It is involves creating a cleaning schedule.
First, take your home and divide it into areas. For example, you can do it floor by floor, room by room or chore by chore.
Cleaning Floor by Floor For example, you can clean the entire second floor by cleaning bathrooms and dusting, vacuuming and straightening up all the bedrooms. The next day you clean the entire first floor by cleaning the powder room, dusting, vacuuming and straightening up the living room and dining room and cleaning the kitchen counters and washing the floor. The third day, if you have a finished basement, you dust, vaccum and straighten up the family room and wipe down the appliances in the laundry room.
Cleaning Room By Room For example, you can clean all the bedrooms and the hallway one day, clean all the bathrooms another day, clean the kitchen one day, clean the living room and/or family room and dining room another day.
Cleaning Chore By Chore Do all the dusting and straightening up throughout the entire home one day, vacuum the entire home another day, clean all the bathrooms and powder room one day, clean the entire kitchen another day.
Whichever system you decide to use, set up a schedule for the week as to what you will be doing each day. Spreading the cleaning out throughout the week will involve a lot less time daily to get the chores done. By using this system on a weekly basis, you will find still be cleaning the entire home each week but in small pieces and the overall look of the home will improve.
Lastly, don't forget to get the cooperation of the other family members when it comes to cleaning the home. They live in the home too so they should be involved in keeping it clean.
