Blog: Busy Moms Can Be Organized Too
USING A FAMILY CALENDAR

The use of a family calendar is an invaluable tool to getting your home and family organized. Something so simple can be so beneficial.

Start off by either purchasing or obtaining a large wall calendar that displays one month at a time with space to write items into the daily blocks.

Each member of the family should be represented by a separate color. Use different colored fine tip markers for each member. Let everyone pick their own color.

Sit down as a family and fill in the blocks with birthdays, special occasions, sports activities, doctor appointments, social events, etc. The initial time, it will take a bit longer to compile, but afterwards, you can just fill in items as they come up. You can put reminders on the calendar as well.

Everyone will be able to clearly see who is doing what and you can make sure that everyone can get where they need to go when they need to get there. Mom might need to drive Johnny to soccer practice while Dad drives Suzie to her school dance. By putting all activities on the calendar, you will avoid being late for appointments or forgetting about them altogether. You will also avoid over-scheduling. You will be able to see that you already have a commitment on a certain day before you say "yes" to another activity.

Creating a Family Calendar will create more function in your day-to-day life.
