The new wave in junk-hauling is for hauling companies to give You money! These companies have mastered the art of e-Bay, Craigslist and Amazon. They take your stuff, sell it, and give you back a portion of the money. There are two in action in the Washington, DC area:

Junk Refund – You pay a hauling fee which is below the industry standard and they take anything you don't want. The take the best stuff and sell it over of the internet. You get 50% of the profits. Item that won't get a good price are donated.
Resale Solutions – There is no pickup fee. They usually take items that are smaller in nature and are typically sold over Amazon such as CDs, DVDs, and books. The company sells it and you get a % of the sales.
