 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO
Did you know that your cell phone can actually be save a life or be an emergency tool for survival?
FIRST - You have an emergency.
The worldwide emergency number for a cell phone is 112. If you should find yourself out of the coverage area of your cell phone or network and there is an emergency, just dial 112 and the cell phone will search any existing network to establish the emergency number you need. This number can even be dialed even if the keypad is locked!
SECONYou've locked your keys in the car.
If your car has remote keyless entry, this could come in handy someday. Reason enough to own a cell phone. If you lock your keys in the car and the spare set of keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Then, hold your cell phone about 12 inches away and have the person at home press the unlock button, holding it near the cell phone on their end. Amazingly, you car will unlock!
This will save someone from having to drive to where you are to give you the spare set of keys. Also, distance is not an object. You could literally be hundreds of miles away and that person who has your other remote in hand for your car can unlock your car doors or the trunk.
THIRD - You have hidden battery power.
If you find that your cell phone battery is very low, you can increase the strength of the batter. Simply activate it by pressing the keys *3370# and your cell phone will restart with this reserve. The phone will show a 50% increase in battery power. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone the next time.
FOURTH - You can disable a STOLEN mobile phone.
To check your cell phone's serial number, key in the these digits on your phone: *#06#. A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your phone only. Write this number down and keep it somewhere safe.
If you phone should get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will use this information to block your phone so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be completely useless.
More than likely, you will not get your phone back, but at least you will have peace of mind knowing that whoever stole it can't use it or sell it. If we could get everyone to do this, it would eliminate the desire of people to steal cell phones altogether.And Lastly...
FIFTH You can get free directory assistance on your cell phone.
Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial: (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now!
