Blog: Use Your Space & Conquer Office Workflow
Inconvenient Storage
One of the most common reasons that your office is disorganized is that your storage, particularly your file cabinets, are not in a convenient location. Julie Morgenstern originally discussed this concept in her book Organizing from the Inside Out. You need to store items where you use them.
You are not lazy, you just have better things to do with your time, then get out of your seat and walk across the room 10 different times to put away 10 different pieces of paper. Instead your file drawer should be immediately under your desk (the best) or right beside your desk. You need to be able to file a piece of paper in a file drawer without getting out of your chair!
It has to be just as easy to put the paper in a file cabinet then it is to leave the paper in a pile on your desk!
