Just don't do it

As professional organizers we can't help internalizing a lot of our client's junk.  It comes with the territory.  In addition, we have all the responsibilities of managing a business.  And then there's taking care of our families and putting our own self care on the list somewhere.

One of the most important things I do for myself that keeps my energy high is to "unplug" for a time every day.  When I work, I'm totally on - plugged in.  When I unplug, I turn off.
I found out the hard way that when I stay "on" all the time, my battery goes dead.  Unplugging for awhile is a form of recharging yourself.

The usual arguments for not taking this precious time for yourself are lack of time.  You don't need a week in Mexico - just a little block of time every day will do wonders.  Find your own way to unplug.  It doesn't have to cost a thing and it can be as little as 5 or 10 minutes.  It's the intent and the clarity of focus that creates the renewed, refreshed feeling - and that will boost your energy and motivation like nothing else!

The opposite of doing is not doing.  So find a few minutes each day to "just don't do it."

This is so important and yet so hard for most of us to do... I wrote a post this week on Five Ways To Keep Your Business From Taking Over Your Life - this idea is so simple I should have included it too!
