Blog: Setting And Achieving Goals
Have you ever been so completely overwhelmed that you are on the verge of tears every time the phone rings and someone asks you a question? You feel that everything you have been working on has been a total waste of time and you are starting to doubt your talents, abilities, and judgement.
Nine out of ten we have all been in that nasty place at one point of time or another and getting out of that hell hole can be an absolute nightmare, but you do get out. However, making your way out of the fiery pits can be a heck of a lot easier if you have a small personal goal to work on.
If you are even slightly on the road to tears, stop and take a minute for yourself. You have been working your tail off for 7 days straight, your financial situation isn't looking like you would have hoped, you have sucked all of your resources and retirement dry and the holidays are right around the corner. You more than deserve an afternoon to yourself. As a matter of fact, you MUST take that afternoon or you will lose your mind.
Even if it is something as small as getting a manicure, you need to reward yourself. You need to know that YOU appreciate your efforts. One of my clients was having a heck of a time a few months ago and was on the verge of a breakdown, instead of going over tasks and what she had to do over the coming week I snagged her out of the office and we went to the movies.
The end result were two hours of good Jason Bourne bang bang shoot 'em ups and a very relaxed doctor. Seriously, something as easy as a movie with a friend can relax you tremendously! Enough to give you a boost in the ol' energy field.
It doesn't need to be much, it doesn't need to cost money, it can something as simple as every Thursday night you play cards with the girls. A little girlie time filled with laughter, jokes, and silliness can wipe away the stress and make your stomach hurt from all of the laughing.
However, make sure you make it a date and don't falter. Don't let yourself down, down let the girls down, and don't let that evil monster, Stress, ruin your life and your dreams.
