Recycle Your Board Games – Free Shipping Expires Soon

As a mom and a Professional Organizer a newspaper advertisement recently caught my attention. There was an announcement about recycling old board games. Recyclebank and Hasbro are asking that you mail in your old board games, and they will recycle the game properly.   They will sort all the pieces and parts (e.g., card board, electronics, plastic) and recycle them appropriately.  They will also pay for your shipping; you can download from their website a free pre-paid shipping label.
All of this caught my attention because board games – believe it or not – are a difficult item to donate.  Many places such as Goodwill will not accept games.  I assume this is due to the high probability that pieces are missing.  Also, many children's organization and shelters are no longer accepting used toys; they only want new toys.
The board game recycle program may only last until 9/30/2011, so download now.  Note:  I've seen conflicting dates - there are some references to the recycling program ending 10/31/2011.

I am not sure about your good will ,but our goodwill and salvation army take in board games. Also from what they tell me turn quite a good profit from them as the market for them has risen as the economy has floundered.

Goodwill "officially" states that they don't accept games, but there is flexibility at some drop-off location. I know the Goodwill that my client uses only take 50% of her stuff, but my Goodwill takes almost everything.
