Blog: Technology As An Organizing Tool
Goal Spirals
There are all kinds of ways to keep track of the things you need to do, and the best system is the one that works best for you.
For some people, it's a daily to-do list; for others it's an electronic task manager. Some people function most efficiently by writing each task on a sticky note that can be discarded when the task has been completed.
The creator of Goal Spirals had found that the best system for them was to purchase a set of spiral bound index cards for each of their goals, using a separate index card for each task required to accomplish the goal, and discarding cards as the tasks were completed. The many benefits to this system are explained in detail on the Goal Spirals website.
One day, rather than going out to buy more index cards, they decided to develop an online version that would function in a similar way, but with the following added benefits:
• You don't have to worry about illegible handwriting
• You're not limited to the number of cards that come in a package
• You can add tasks to a centralized to-do list, along with due dates
My only negative comment is that on some screens the Google ads are more prominent than the internal links, which I found confusing until I got used to it. However, it took me less than a minute to sign up for a free account, and not much longer to familiarize myself with the system, and overall I am really impressed.
