KEYS FOR GETTING HIRED-KEY #3
Harvey B. Mackay, owner of Mackay Envelope Corporation in Minneapolis and author of the best-seller Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive, offer four keys to help you get hired.
Key #1 (discussed in previous entry) is prepare to win, Key #2 (discussed in another previous entry) is never stop learning, and today's Key is believe in yourself even when no one else does.
Mackay suggests you remember the four minute mile. After trying to do it for hundreds of years it was finally concluded that it was physically impossible for humans. Supposedly our lung power was inadequate and our bone structure was all wrong.
Roger Bannister proved the experts wrong by breaking the four-minute mile and lo and behold, six weeks later, John Landy beat Bannister's time by nearly two full seconds. And since then, nearly 800 runners have broken the four-minute mile!
So, what's the point? Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't accomplish the goals you set for yourself. A goal is merely a dream with a deadline. You write it down, you set up a means of measurement, you identify what you plan to accomplish, and then you go for it and accomplish it.
As Harvey B. Mackay says, "Who says you're not tougher, harder working and more able than your competition? If you're working within your God-given talents, believe in yourself, even if no one else does. And as Philippians 4:13 encourages us: "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
