Collaborative Project Management Tools

The following Collaborative Project Management Tools can be used by small to large teams to organize their projects, manage teams and share information:
  • Viewpath (free)
  • Zoho Projects (free)
  • ProjectManager.com
  • Project Invision
  • EasyProject
  • Same-page.com
  • HotProject
  • Wrike.com
The criteria for software to be included in this list are:
  1. Can it store files (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint) centrally that all team members can access?
  2. Does it have the advanced Project Management feature gantt chart generation from tasks? Gantt chart generation highlights that it is a robust tool and usually feature-rich

I have used ProjectManager.com for years, but I'm going to try Viewpath because of its price point and pricing flexibility.  The free version of Viewpath does not have all the features I need, but the $12.95/month version does.  Viewpath also allows you to switch between the free and $12.95/month versions on a monthly basis without losing any data.

The Zoho Project free version only allows you to work one project.  If you need to work on multiple projects, Zoho has other pricing packages which support a multi-project environment.

If you have used these software tools or others, please feel free to post your comments to this blog so that others can benefit from your experience!

Hi, Heather Nice to see women who are interested in project management, which is so far has been considered a man's domain. What concerns an alternative to the tools mentioned by you, I can add Comindware task tracker. Not expensive, easy to use, doesn't require any special training, and the option of generating various reports, including gantt chart, is available.

by Comindware on 5/8/2012 9:44:43 AM:

Steward, thank for the suggestion of Comindware. I will definitely check it out, especially since it has gantt charting. To all, has anyone else used Comindware?
