Less is More

I received a t-shirt at the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) conference with the simple phrase on the front of the shirt "Less is More," and I gave it to my husband. When my husband wore the shirt, my son asked, "What does Less is More mean?" My daughter, who is naturally organized, replied immediately, "Less stuff means more space and more time." She is 10 years old, and I was blown away that she completely understood the statement Less is More. I'm not that preachy, and while I agree with the concept, it is not one that I talk about a lot. I'm especially impressed that she made the leap to the concept of more time.

To drill deeper on the statement Less is More:

Less stuff = more space. More space to live, interact, move around and have room for new opportunities

Less stuff = more time. How much time do you waste pushing aside the old stuff to find the good stuff? For example, old files and paperwork that are in the way. What about getting dressed to go to work in the morning? How many old clothes do you have to push aside to find something you really want to wear? How much time do you waste sorting though the old?
