Let the Games Begin... My Top 5 Fun Festivities Made Easy
I can't tell you how excited that today is Black Friday. Not only do I see this as the "big day" is quickly approaching, but it gives me a chance to really start to slow down and enjoy the holidays. We love to do little crafts around the house, make holiday cookies, get the holiday cards written (which I just ordered)... well you get the idea.
For some, Black Friday begins the dreaded list of busy schedules, things to plan and decorating to do. The holidays should be a fun and enjoyable time of year... not work.
I believe in making it simple. Although I love to make, create and craft things... I also believe in making things easy (especially if you are a busy person). Here are my top five ways to make your holidays a little easier... while getting things done!
1. Shop online - So many websites are now offering FREE SHIPPING. Take advantage... also, if there is shipping, think about how much it would cost you to pay for the gas, face the mall and all the people. You might come out ahead.
2. Use Preprinted Mailing Labels - I usually send out over 200 cards each year. Don't ask how that happened! Any ways.. when sending out cards, if you keep you contacts in a database like Outlook, you can download them into a sheet of labels and print them out. The same goes for return address. For less than $15 you can have all your labels done in minutes.
3. Decorate with what you love - Put up your decorations that you love and because you want to! If you hate doing the lights outside the house, don't do it. You should never feel obligated or guilty at the holidays!
4. Enlist Help - There should never be just one person doing all the work in the household... especially if you have a large family! Each person should have a task...who knows, you may start a tradition!
5. Don't Volunteer - Know your limitations! Never over commit (especially at the holidays). When we take on too many things, we feel that obligation and responsibility to fulfill and sometimes we have to learn and understand that it's okay to say NO!
