Blog: Setting And Achieving Goals
Never Forget a Birthday Again
Over the weekend, I was skimming through some eZines online and came across one in regards to the "7 Secrets of the Super Organised". Curious as to whether I possessed any of the 7 super powers, I was happily pleased with seeing that I had at least 6 out of the 7. (I don't plan our meals, I know, I'm a total failure, but it's true!) What did catch my eye was the caption of "never forget birthdays".
This must be a popular topic at the moment, because I had a reader send me over a sample of an Excel spreadsheet she uses to help her organize all of the birthdays in the entire family. She then emails the list out to her brothers and sisters requesting updated info on new babies and to verify last names and birth dates. Once that is finalized, she then emails the entire list to everyone in the family. Not only does she have them for herself, she also passes along the information to others.
I know one of the things I have become quite remiss in over the years has been my snail mail correspondence. It used to be that I had my writing desk in the living room all decked out with my latest fountain pen, wax and seals to beautifully send out a quick note or a special birthday wish. Now, with the internet, I am lucky if I mail anything out.
If sending out birthday cards is going to be one of your goals in the coming year, why not get started by putting together a list of everyone's birthday. I will have an Excel download on our website if you would like to use our template for your list.
Of course, if you are feeling motivated and inspired here are a few other things you can do to help you obtain your Never Forget a Birthday Again goal!
-
Make a list of everyone's birthday
-
Purchase cards ahead of time
-
Address the envelope with the persons name…now
-
Create a monthly filing system for your cards
-
Place the birthday card in a folder with the month you need to mail it out
-
Purchase little gift cards for those birthdays coming up so you don't have to worry about it when it comes
In the end, it is all about setting an achievable goal that you control!
Happy Organizing!
