Give a Gift of Hope...

I'd like to make a pitch for not giving so much "stuff" to friends and family for Christmas this year. Instead I'd like to encourage giving to a favorite charity in the name of the person you would like to "gift" for.

We've been doing this in our family for a number of years now and we've all come to really enjoy sharing our good fortune with the rest of the world. We even play the pull a name out of the hat game and with the name the person includes their favorite charity info so you know what group to donate to in their name.

I also like to give gifts of "experience" instead of things. This year I am treating friends to Cirque du Soleil which happens to be in San Francisco right now. Concerts, movies, plays and restaurants make great fun gifts to share and enjoy each others company. Best of all, no wrapping paper is required!
