Blog: Settling Into Your New Home
Organized Closet Bliss
So, you've started packing, and you're already visualizing your new closet and how all of your clothing will go in it. However, the reality is that your new closet only has one hanging rod and not much else. Setting up your new closet now, while it's empty, is the best time. There are many alternatives to creating an organized closet.
-
Use what you have: If you have a low budget (or no budget) look at what you have to use in your closet. Inexpensive crates can hold shoes, and a hanging rod like this one (click to link) can double your hanging space.
- Do it yourself: There are several companies that help you design a system for your closet. You'll need measurements and a general idea of what you want. Most of these systems are inexpensive and easy to install. You'll want to have a drill, screwdriver and some know-how.
- Full-service: Want to show the designer the door and let them do it? If you're in the middle of packing and moving to your new home, this is a good option if you have a larger budget. There are several full-service companies with trained designers and loads of ideas. You show them the space, they design a closet storage solution and install it for you.
Whatever you choose, your closet can be an effective storage area. In such a small area, it's important to use every inch! So make sure you have homes for your fedoras, belts, party dresses and handbags. Set up a system you can use from day one. Now that's organized closet bliss.
