Chaos!! Where do I begin?

Ahhh chaos! Where do I even begin? Does that sound familiar? Is your home so crazy chaotic that you can't even bend your mind around where to begin? I don't know about you, but now that I have all my holiday decorations out it just adds to the mix with everything else I have. It all can make me a little crazy. When my home is cluttered and things are shewn about I begin to unravel a little…. I know I sound a little on the loopy side. There are defiantly times when things are laying around and I chose to ignore them because I'm either to tired or just to tired. But I do know once I get my wits about me I can place these items in their homes in a quick manner…. That, my friends, is the difference between being organized and full of to much clutter. You can still be organized and your home looks like a tornado went through it, but the difference is when it comes time to pick up you can do it fast and furious. Plus everything has a home. When a home is disorganized and hit with the storm of the century clean up takes hours, days even weeks to shovel yourself out. You end up just moving things from room to room like a squirrel searching for his nuts. Okay look no further I have 2 very reasonable and logical solutions for you to get started on cleaning up your path of destruction. The first very doable solution to the "How do I get started?" eternal question is…. Choose a couple places in your home that bug you the most. Limit it to maybe 3 places, after that pick the area that is the smallest and start there. This way you will find success from the beginning. If the task seems so large and overwhelming you will poop out before a dent is even made. A closet, a corner, some place you feel that can be tackled in an afternoon. Decide what that area is for and remove everything that does not belong there. Then choose the right tools for the area you are working on. For example I love those shoebox size plastic containers. They store all kinds of items and keep them neat, easy to see and access. What do you do with the things that did not belong in your newly organized spot? This is my number 2-point. They need to be placed in the appropriate room in which they belong. I don't want you to put them away, just place them in the room unless your truly have a specific spot where it belongs. Otherwise just place it in the room and we will tackle that room when it is time. For example let's say your first job was the front hall closet and there was a bunch of shoes that belonged to you daughter on the floor. Place them in a laundry basket and set in her room or by the door. This way if there is really not a place for them in her room you will have to rethink the home for her shoes. Focus on one spot or room at a time. When picking up your first choice area do not waste time putting misc items away in other rooms. This will save you time in the long run and elimate the multiple placement of your things. Hang in there! Start simple. Set aside an afternoon and….just.. START!
