National Get Organized (GO) Month
The first week of 2008 is nearing its end and National Get Organized (GO) Month is in full swing. Are you doing anything special at your business to celebrate GO Month? Did you just find out this minute that there is even such a thing as GO Month?
At realign, we looked over our list of short term (1 year or less) goals and picked a few to tackle now in honor of GO Month. The following list contains the 3 main projects we have undertaken this month and how they will help us stay organized and maximize the use of our time.
- Website Redesign – The new website, which will be live later this month, will provide more information to clients and prospects online. It will give an in depth explanation of what a new client can expect when they hire realign and will contain many of the resources that we frequently make available to clients. This will save time explaining our services to callers and reduce the total number of emails we generate to disseminate materials to clients and other interested parties.
- Legal Document Review – We have hired an attorney to review our legal documents. This will reduce some of that "mental clutter" that is constantly nagging at me and distracting me from the task at hand. As the business has grown, I have worried and wondered over whether the original contracts and agreements were still sufficient. We don't have the normal paper clutter that plagues most small businesses, so it made more sense for me to identify some mental clutter to clean out for GO Month.
- Staffing Changes – As organizers, we spend our time helping busy people develop simple systems to get the maximum benefit in the least possible time. However, the truth remains that you can get so busy and stretched so thin that there is no way to stay organized. I, myself, was about to get so busy that it was going to be a challenge to stay on top of everything. We have already started interviewing potential Assistant Organizers who will help us maintain both internal procedures and the highest level of client service.
If your business has made new years resolutions or has undertaken a specific project in honor of National Get Organized month, I would love to hear about it. Please contact me by email at to share your stories of how you are getting organized for 2008.

What I'm Reading . . .
- "Raising Financially Fit Kids", Joline Godfrey
Common sense ideas and insight into raising kids who are wll-prepared to manage their own finances as young adults.
- "The Success Principles: How To Get From Where You Are to Where You Want To Be" by Jack Canfield
This book really got me excited about pursuing my goals and growing my business. There is a heavier emphasis on materialism than what I am comfortable with, but overall this is an inspiring book.
- "The Organized Executive", by Stephanie Winston
- "No B.S. Time Management for Enterpreneurs" by Dan Kennedy
